[文摘]:Neutron energies of 144 and 565 keV were measured using transfer devices consisting of matched pairs of indium foils activated via the in-115(n, gamma) In-116m reaction. The relative 54 min In-116m activity was determined with a 4 pi Beta gas flow proportional counter. The neutron fluence received by the indium foil was determined using a calibrated standard long counter. The saturated specific Beta-activity of In-116m per unit neutron fluence rate, at both neutron energies, is reported. Corrections for neutron scattering from the surroundings were easily made, corrections for neutron scattering within the target assembly were difficult to evaluate, particularly at 144 keV. This effect dominates the uncertainties associated with the transfer device at this energy. (ESA)
